Exciting MS Graduate Research Assistantship in Fisheries Ecology and Management at Eastern Illinois University

Eastern Illinois University, located in Charleston, IL, is offering a fantastic opportunity for a MS graduate research assistantship in Fisheries Ecology and Management. The position will be based in the Department of Biological Sciences' Center for Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, with a start date of August 2023.

Description:

The research project will focus on investigating Channel Catfish population dynamics and recruitment in Central Illinois impoundments. The successful candidate will have the chance to engage in an outreach component involving local school groups. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain diverse experiences in fisheries science by collaborating on other graduate student projects and working closely with fisheries professionals at the state and university levels.

Criteria and Benefits:

We are seeking a self-motivated student who excels both independently and in a team setting. Responsibilities will include field and laboratory sampling, as well as data processing tasks. The position comes with a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend of $1400. Previous fisheries experience, including familiarity with field and lab techniques, is preferred. A bachelor's degree and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 are required. The candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds and work in inclement weather conditions. A valid driver's license with at least 4 years of driving experience is also necessary.
