We are seeking a passionate and driven PhD candidate to join our team in developing cutting-edge computational models for studying the combined impacts of temperature and drought stress on plant growth and performance. This project offers a unique opportunity to integrate functional-structural plant models with molecular signaling networks, aiming to understand the intricate relationships between drought and temperature perception and their physiological consequences.

The ultimate goal is to employ targeted breeding strategies and enhance crop resilience to climate change and environmental stress, contributing to the sustainability of agricultural practices.

This position is part of the prestigious Crop-XR initiative based in the Netherlands, which focuses on making crops less reliant on fertilizers and pesticides while improving their adaptability to changing climates. A strong grasp of plant stress responses is crucial to achieving these objectives.

Eligibility criteria :

Ideal candidates should hold an MSc degree in Computational Biology, Biophysics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with a keen interest in plant science and a desire to bridge the gap between biological and computational approaches. Proficiency in differential equation-based modeling and programming is required, and experience in data analysis and bioinformatics will be advantageous.
